Meeting with the Consulate
i know some of you have already gone to meet the consulate, so i just thought i'd ask your opinion. my mum thinks that i should dress up and wear like a dress because we're meeting someone who's highly respected. But i dont want to go dressed up all formal like and turn up and there are people there all dressed casual lol. and i love dresses but i dont want to look like i'm going overboard or sucking up or anything like that. SO lo is there a dress code? l what did u guys wear / wat do u plan on wearing!? lol

Re: Meeting with the Consulate
Hey Bec, I just went casual, as did pretty much everyone. I wore jeans, a singlet and a fitted jacket - just be neat casual. Even all the guys who had their interviews that day were just in Jeans and a T-Shirt. Not dress pants and collared shirts or anything.
You dont really meet someone 'highly respected', basically just Senior Admin people, thats all :-)

Re: Meeting with the Consulate
becaue they took their sweet time getting back to me haha nah they had like heaps of ppl to get through and i wasnt accepted into the program till feb so i was down the list a bit. oh well its almost here! Oh lol and so not on topic (which is wat we like right?) haha
I brought my backpack today! it's backpack on wheels AND a duffle bag and is 60 litres. which i thought was good but it looks so tiny haha i'll have to roll all my stuff up. It cost $188 (and that was with a discount!) plus name tags. the tsa locks cost $11 bucks each there and i needed like 10 of htem lol so i was like i'll look around, AND THERE WAS NONE! kmart- none, target- none, big w- none, other bag stores- none, freaking sunshine coast has nada lol. soooo might have to fork out the money...kinda sucks. are u guys getting a hide-away money belt to put passport and stuff in?

Re: Meeting with the Consulate
I'm not getting a money belt Bec as I kinda wanna blend in with the locals, rather than stick out as an Aussie haha!!!
But that's awesome news about your backpack, but unawesome news about the TSA Locks! I got two for $20, but I only really needed two lol! Why do you need 10??

Re: Meeting with the Consulate
I got given a money belt from a friend to wear but Im not going to use it. Im a small person and I wear relatively tight clothes - the money belt just SCREAMS outs 'Hey! Im a tourist with money on me!". Its shocking... really obvious.
